vgafonts.txt (2903B)
1 --- The VGA fonts in src/env/video/vgafonts.c (copyleft_vgafonts.txt) 2 3 This *compilation* is (c) Copyright 1991,1992 Joseph (Yossi) Gil. 4 Permission is granted to use and redistribute the files comprising 5 this collection in any way (including conversion to another format), 6 provided that my name and addresses and this notice is preserved. 7 8 Simple (dare I say trivial?) bitmapped screen fonts such as the ones 9 included in this collection cannot be copyrighted. In general, one can 10 only copyright programs that generate fonts. This is why postscript 11 fonts are copyrightable. For more details refer to discussions various 12 "legal" newsgroups. In addition, I have included a relevant excerpt 13 from the FAQ of comp.fonts at the bottom of this document. 14 15 No one can claim any copyright on the fonts in this archive. They 16 have been collected from numerous sources. Legally speaking, you are 17 *free* to do with the individual fonts whatever you like. Individual 18 fonts are in the public domain. I do ask that you will kindly refrain 19 from causing confusion by distributing modified versions of the fonts 20 contained in this collection. 21 22 Please send any all your EGA/VGA text mode fonts contributions to me 23 rather than distributing a modified version of this collection. I 24 will add your fonts to the next edition of this collection and happily 25 acknowledge your help. Your cooperation will enable us all to benefit 26 from your contribution. See the file LOOKING4.TXT for more details. 27 28 I am trying to keep track of the origins of these fonts. See the file 29 FONTORIG.TXT. Unfortunately, I only started to record this information 30 on version 1.2. Records of origin of earlier fonts are missing. 31 If you know the origin of any of the fonts here, please drop me a note. 32 33 Staring on version 1.6 the collection also includes some of the 34 miscellaneous utilities which I use for preparing it. Among these 35 you will find programs for loading, viewing, trimming and otherwise 36 manipulating the fonts. These utilities are also distributed as a 37 separate archive called fntutlXX.ZIP where XX is the version number. 38 All the utilities require no shareware payment. Restrictions on 39 distribution and usage are only to the extent necessary to protect 40 the free distribution. 41 42 I see this is as my pleasant duty to pay tribute to the following 43 individuals who communicated and contributed to this archive: 44 45 Dov Grobgeld <cfgrob@weizmann.weizmann.ac.il> 46 Angelos Karageorgiou <karage@insci.com>,<karage@scus1.ctstateu.edu> 47 Alexandre (Alex) Khalil <9999SC01@DT3.DT.UH.EDU>,<alex@dt.uh.edu> 48 Patrick Arzul <andrewd@cs.uct.ac.za> 49 Mike Threepoint <linhart@trident.usacs.rutgers.edu> 50 Glaude David [Glu] <dglaude@is1.vub.ac.be> 51 Jean-Marc Lasgouttes <Jean-Marc.Lasgouttes@inria.fr> 52 Itamar Even-Zohar <itiez@ccsg.tau.ac.il> 53 A.Weeks%bath.ac.uk@ib.rl.ac.uk 54 Miguel Farah. 55 56 57 This collection would not have been what it today is without their 58 help! 59
